      Advice on troubleshooting computer issues

Computers are a necessity rather than an accessory at this point. With most of our day to day tasks being heavily reliant on the device itself, it almost seems impossible to imagine life without it. However, as the famous quote goes, with great power comes great responsibility, similar is the case for a laptop or computer. With great heavy computational power comes great responsibility for routine maintenance and fixing troubleshooting. Computers are a machine, yet they are not a perfect machine and can occasionally be exposed to a fault or two. In times where maintenance is necessary, it is best to try the basic strategies yourself before seeking professional help. As computers are the state-of-the-art technology, it stands to reason that with a little help they can fix themselves.

      1. Updating Software

Computers require updates and applications running on the computers require to be updated as well. Hence whenever an app crashes unexpectedly or lags behind, the interference might be credited to an outdated software program. More often than not, the new updated software cannot integrate effectively with programs running older versions of the software. Hence troubleshooting is only a matter of when. To avoid such conundrums, update your operating software and application software alike.

      • Scan Your Computer with Anti-Virus

While the notion of running an anti-virus frightens many, it does not necessarily mean that the computer has been compromised. Usually, anti-virus programs are designed to be multifunctional. For example, they also perform routine tasks such as clean up and trashing junk files which can boost processing speed significantly. Moreover, a thorough scan of your computer can also eradicate viruses, malicious programs, and worms alike.

      • Deploy the Use of Task Manager

For the case of frozen application or programs which are no longer responding, the task manager can be used. Task manager enables ending tasks or rather programs which are no longer needed or are freezing your computer. The use of task manager is also extremely effective for troubleshooting when the entire screen has been frozen. By simply clicking Ctrl + Alt+ Delete on your keyboard, you can access the task manager and end unnecessary programs.

      • Force Restart

Usually, when a program freezes, it takes the entire PC along with it. Hence halting all of its functioning, including routine courser movements on the screen of the computer. For such cases, panicking is not the solution, rather force restarting your computer is. On any computer of the modern age or the recent era, force restarting is an easy option. It requires pressing down on the power button until the screen turns dark. After which repressing it after a certain duration can rest the computer to its default state.

      • Reinstalling The Operating System

If none of the options mentioned above fix your concerns regarding troubleshooting, it is time to reinstall the operating system. What reinstalling an operating system does is eliminate all possible vulnerabilities, lags, and glitches from the system. Hence providing your computer in a fresh off the shelf state which can be used easily and effectively.
